I’ve been to a lot of chiropractors, and most places feel rushed or super routine. Dr. Scriven is the complete opposite. He actually takes his time, listens, and explains the why behind the what so you understand what’s going on with your body. Nothing feels generic or cookie-cutter - he zeroed in on my actual issues and I felt the difference right away. Highly recommend him.

I was referred to Dr. Scriven by my case manager after an accident, and I’m so glad I was! He’s super friendly and makes sure to explain everything clearly before starting any treatment. I had shockwave therapy for my shoulder and spinal decompression for my lower back, and I already noticed the improvement only after just first few sessions. The pain has definitely eased up and I can move without the discomfort I used to feel when stretching my shoulder. I would definitely recommend Dr. Scriven!

I highly recommend Dr. Scriven for chiropractic support in Davis! He has helped me work on lower back pain and muscle injury from running and biking exercises, and has helped my wife with shoulder and related injuries. Dr. Scriven is very approachable and enjoyable to work with!

I came to Dr. Scriven after an acute episode of back pain which left me with severe pain shooting down my leg, tingling in my toes, and limited ability to sleep or sit comfortably. He got me in quickly and was knowledgeable, thorough, and kind. After our initial session which involved shockwave, he put me on the motorized decompression table—and within five days the improvement was huge. The gentle spinal stretching relieved the pressure on my disc/nerve, and after two sessions I was basically back to normal. I even stopped taking the gabapentin I’d relied on for years. I ended up doing three sessions total and plan to continue for maintenance. I would highly recommend Dr. Scriven and trying out the decompression table if you have back/neck pain!

I came to see Dr. Scriven after a friend recommended me to him to help with frozen shoulder with a small rotator cuff tear. I could not get down dinner plates or cookie sheets. I am a teacher and it hurt to write on the white board. I had been doing PT for 6 months, and the last three months there was little improvement. With the shockwave therapy and physical therapy administered by Dr. Scriven, I have greatly improved my range of motion. It is not 100% yet, but it is not severely impacting my everyday life like it was before. I can write on the white board, do yoga again, and get the dishes and cookie sheets down. I will continue to do the physical therapy exercises and hopefully, the full range will come back.

What To Expect:

Shockwave sessions will typically last 15 minutes, with the actual treatment time averaging about 5 minutes. We will apply an acoustic gel over the area of complaint, which will help transfer the energy of the sound waves into the damaged tissues. During the treatment, patients may experience mild discomfort as the shockwaves break up scar tissue and restart the healing process. It is completely normal to feel a slight “soreness” in the area depending on your initial pain level, but many patients report immediate pain relief and increased functionality after the first treatment.

We typically recommend a series of 3 to 6 Shockwave Therapy sessions, spaced 7 days apart, depending on the severity of your condition. There are no long-term commitments required to begin treatment, and we are always available to answer any questions you may have about the process. We believe Shockwave Therapy is a game-changing tool that can benefit everyone, from high-level athletes to those with sedentary jobs, helping them achieve their goals and live pain-free. Having experienced its benefits firsthand, we consider it one of the most effective methods available for maintaining overall health and providing top-quality care to our patients.
